Adult and Elderly Health Attention

Population aging is one of the greatest public health challenges for both civil society and the state, requiring a greater effort to meet the demands of this population. The project aims to carry out activities with interdisciplinary action, with regard to the promotion of social interaction, exchange of experiences and knowledge and the intergenerational interface in articulating the interdisciplinarity of care and attention to adults and the elderly. To this end, we seek through educational activities, home visits, visits to Long-Term Institutions, recreation activities, functional assessment of physical mobility and leisure, orienting the population, elderly-caregiver-family-institution, with a view to enhancing performance and potential in the different segments, namely: bio-psychic, social, political and economic. It is an extension project, which will be carried out through weekly meetings guided by a situational diagnosis of Long-Term Institutions.

From 03/02/2019 to 12/31/2020 - current

Justification:

The Long Term Care Institutions for the Elderly (ILPIs) emerged as a demand from the community in order to meet the elderly with regard to their physical, psychosocial and family insufficiency needs. The absence or scarcity of public policies aimed at this public has led to a quantitative increase in these institutions, which can be public, private, for-profit, philanthropic, religious or not (CAMARANO et al., 2010). In this perspective, the relevance of this work is justified with a view to the discussion and implementation of Health Policies for the Elderly, expressed in the Pact for Health at the national and local level. Added to this, the elaboration of political interventions and health actions aimed at improving the elderly-caregiver-family-institution role in the face of ethical and legal aspects; implementation and updating of the medical record of the elderly and the Health Record of the Elderly; as well as the promotion of interdisciplinary activities in order to provide the exchange of experiences and knowledge for the care and attention to the elderly. In addition, promote the production of knowledge through the preparation of final reports and experience reports.

Objective:

Perform a situational diagnosis of the place that houses the adult / elderly.2-Implement the resident's medical record.3-Be aware of the health care policies of the elderly and regarding the ethical and legal aspects in the care of the elderly.4- Carry out Health Education to residents and caregivers / professionals who work at the LTCF, regarding the main conditions that affect adults and the elderly, sleep, rest, etc..5-Apply scales for assessing functional and cognitive capacity (Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment) .6-Orienting about Instability and falls. 7- Apply scales to assess the burden of the primary caregiver. 8-Guide caregivers and guardians about the correct handling of Medicines. 9-Guide the caregivers and guardians about the correct handling of Food.10-Assist in hygiene and body care [bath, oral hygiene] .11-Perform dressings when necessary.12-Promote hygiene activities, clothing and care with skin. 13-Assist in environmental transfers and adaptations. 14-Assist in basic activities and daily life.15-Make notes on the Residents' Health Record.16- Implement and update the Health Record of the Elderly.16-Meet the demand, according to ethical and legal aspects. A major objective is to promote activities with interdisciplinary action, promoting social interaction, exchange of experiences, knowledge and the intergenerational interface in the articulation of interdisciplinarity in care and care for adults and the elderly. To this end, we seek through educational activities, home visits, visits to LTCFs, recreation activities, functional assessment, physical mobility and leisure, to guide the population (elderly-caregiver-family-institution), with a view to enhancing their performance and its potential in the different segments, namely: bio-psychic, social, political and economic.

Methodology:

Weekly meetings that will guide activities based on the Situational Diagnosis. Subsequently, students in the health field, especially in nursing, will hold a Nursing Consultation [Nursing Assistance Systematization] under the direct supervision of an advising professor, who will monitor the activities to be carried out during the period. All activities will be noted on the Residents' Record. Health education for residents and caregivers will take place based on demand and according to the objectives listed in this Extension Project.

I LEPROSY AND TUBERCULOSIS SEMINAR: INTEGRATION TEACHING SERVICE

The 1st Seminar on Leprosy and Tuberculosis: teaching-service integration is an event built by many hands with the involvement of undergraduate students, especially courses in the Health area at UFG / RC. The creators of the Event are the Coordinators of the Disciplines of Caring for the Adult and Elderly I (Profª Ivânia Vera and Saúde Coletiva II (Profª Nunila Ferreira) in an integrating activity, between the Disciplines. The Event also has a partner from the Municipal Secretariat de Saúde de Catalão / GO and ADISGO (Association of Diabetics in Southeast Goiás) is scheduled to take place on September 19, 2019, at the Livia Abraão auditorium, at UFG, from 8 am to 6 pm.

From 03/09/2019 to 30/09/2019 – finished

It will be an important moment dedicated to health professionals and academics, for a day of intense activities, with a qualified scientific program, allowing a complete update and training in mycobacterioses, which present two microbial species responsible for two of the oldest and most serious diseases of mankind: leprosy and tuberculosis. The predisposing conditions - political, social and economic issues, allow us to conclude that we are in a millennial struggle against two common enemies and, despite scientific and technological advances, they perpetuate transmissibility and stigmatize those affected worldwide. The Seminar will aim to involve health professionals in partnership with the university, aiming to improve care through the involvement of health teams in the active search for cases, in the integration of Teaching - Health Services in the understanding of Social Determinants in the fight against these diseases and, in the search for Equity in Nursing and Health Care. It will be an excellent opportunity to review knowledge in the context of neglected diseases and outline new perspectives for practice with health services.
